Frameworks and Tools for Program Evaluation in K12 STEM Education

October 5, 2021, 12pm–1pm

Georgia Institute of Technology researchers, Dr. Meltem Alemdar and Dr. Sunni Newton will present evaluation frameworks that highlight their work conducting program evaluation for formal and informal student programs. Specifically focusing on two cases, 1) Georgia Tech’s K-12 Inventure Prize program (an invention competition) 2) Georgia Tech’s Your Voice is Power program (an online competition in which students use code to create music), they will share insights on the evolution of the program evaluation and study instruments. Additionally, they will address grant writing and program evaluation. Participants attending this 60-minute talk can expect to reflect on their experiences with student competitions and challenges and apply new ideas to their own programs and curriculum.
